1. Internship: Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: ~3,385 (nationwide across provinces)
Requirements: A three‐year tertiary qualification (National Diploma NQF6 or Bachelor’s Degree NQF7) in one of: Environmental Health; Environmental Science; Mechanical Engineering; Mechatronics Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry; Construction-related Engineering; Occupational Health/Hygiene; Analytical Chemistry; Explosives Management; Explosives Engineering; Mining/Industrial Engineering.
Duties:

  • Assist in conducting inspections aimed at ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, regulations and incorporated standards.
  • Provide administrative support to inspectors.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and complaints reported under OHS legislation.
  • Support inspectors during enforcement activities.
  • Assist in compiling and consolidating reports emanating from inspections.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate with a technical/engineering or environmental health background, capable of fieldwork, regulatory inspection context, with sound administrative & reporting skills.

2. Internship: Basic Conditions of Employment (BCEA)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: ~3,197 nationwide.
Requirements: A three‐year tertiary qualification (National Diploma NQF6 or Bachelor’s Degree NQF7) in Labour Relations; BCom in Law; LLB; Labour Law; Commercial Law.
Duties:

  • Assist in monitoring compliance by conducting inspections to determine compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997, relevant Sectoral Determinations, and the National Minimum Wage Act 9 of 2018.
  • Assist in investigations of reported complaints regarding contraventions of BCEA, Sectoral Determinations and NMWA.
  • Provide administrative support to inspectors.
    Ideal Candidate: Someone with a legal/labour relations background, interest in workplace rights, inspections and compliance context, good administrative capability.

3. Internship: Employment Equity (EEA)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: ~260 across provinces.
Requirements: Three-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma NQF6 or Bachelor’s Degree NQF7) in BCom Law; LLB; Labour Law; Commercial Law.
Duties:

  • Assist in monitoring compliance through helping with inspections to determine compliance with the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998 and its regulations.
  • Assist in executing investigations on reported complaints related to contraventions of EEA.
  • Provide administrative support to inspectors.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate in labour law/commercial law with interest in diversity, equity and workplace inclusion, inspection environment, and administrative support.

4. Internship: Employer Audit Service (EAS)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: ~1,076 nationwide.
Requirements: A three-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma NQF6 or Bachelor’s Degree NQF7) in BCom/Law; LLB; Labour Law; BCom Accounting; Internal Audit; Auditing; Financial Accounting; Cost & Management Accounting; Financial Information Systems; BCompt Accounting; Financial Management.
Duties:

  • Assist in monitoring compliance by supporting inspections to determine compliance with the Unemployment Insurance Act 63 of 2001 (UIA), the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 130 of 1993 (COIDA) and the Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act 4 of 2002 (UICA).
  • Assist with executing investigations on reported complaints pertaining to contraventions of UIA, COIDA and UICA.
  • Provide administrative support to inspectors.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate with financial, auditing or labour law orientation, strong analytical and administrative skills, interest in regulatory audit/compliance work.

5. Internship: Office of the COO – Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation (PME)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 4 at Head Office, Pretoria.
Requirements: National Diploma (NQF6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Public Administration & Management; Project Management; Statistics.
Duties:

  • Provide technical advice and monitor alignment of provincial strategic plans.
  • Support planning, monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Engage with governance structures and manage the compilation of performance information reports.
  • Assist with implementing service delivery improvement strategies.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate interested in governance, performance measurement, public service strategy and monitoring systems.

6. Internship: Office of the COO – Operations

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 4 at Head Office, Pretoria.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree/B-Tech in Operations Management; Business Administration; Public Administration & Management.
Duties:

  • Support governance of the Service Delivery Improvement Programme (SDIP), the Batho Pele White Paper Principles and Service Standards.
  • Analyse and manage complaints-management systems.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate with interest in operations management in the public sector, process improvement, service delivery and complaints handling.

7. Internship: Office of the Inspector‐General (IES)

Stipend: R7,680.50 per month (slightly lower)
Posts: 5 at Head Office, Pretoria.
Requirements: National Diploma (NQF6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Public Finance & Administration; Business Administration; Business Management; Local Governance & Management; Financial Management; Administrative Management.
Duties:

  • Assist with project coordination in the Office of the Inspector-General.
  • Provide administrative support and secretariat services for various committees.
  • Support budget planning for the branch and procurement of goods and services.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate interested in oversight, governance, administration and financial management in a public‐sector monitoring unit.

8. Internship: Office of the DDG – Corporate Services (CS)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 2 at Head Office, Pretoria.
Requirements: National Diploma (NQF6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Public Administration; Business Administration; Office Management & Technology; Management Assistant; Business Management.
Duties:

  • Assist in rendering administrative support services to the Office of the DDG.
  • Assist with controlling document and file movement in the Office.
  • Assist with supply chain management (SCM) support for the Office.
  • Assist with budget planning for the Office of the DDG.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate in business or office administration, with interest in executive‐level support, document flow, SCM, budgeting.

9. Internship: Employee Relations (ER)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 26 posts across Head Office & provincial offices.
Requirements: LLB or National Diploma (NQF6) / Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Labour Relations, Labour Law.
Duties:

  • Assist with opening misconduct and grievance files.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly statistics.
  • Assist in sourcing case law.
  • Analyse cases for merits of success.
  • Perform administrative duties in the employee relations unit.
    Ideal Candidate: Graduate in labour law/relations with interest in grievances, case law, analytics and strong administrative/analytical skills.

10. Internship: Training & Performance Management (TPM)

Stipend: R7,860.55 per month.
Posts: 26 posts across Head Office & provincial offices.
Requirements: National Diploma (NQF6) / Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Human Resource Management; Human Resource Development; Management of Training; Public Management.
Duties:

  • Facilitate performance agreement assessments.
  • Capture and verify performance agreements in PERSAL (HR system).
  • Provide secretariat and logistical support for PMDS committee meetings.
  • Assist in procurement support for the unit.
  • Coordinate training programmes and bursary administration.
  • Compile training databases, Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs), quarterly & annual training reports.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate with HR/training background keen on performance management, training coordination, administration and HR systems.

11. Internship: Human Resource Operations (HRO)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 90 across Head Office & provinces.
Requirements: National Diploma (NQF6) / Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Human Resource Management.
Duties:

  • Provide support for all HR functions including recruitment & selection, service benefits.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate in HR interested in recruitment, benefits administration, HR operations in public sector.

12. Internship: Organisational Development (OD)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 4 at Head Office, Pretoria.
Requirements: National Diploma (NQF6) / Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Management Services; Industrial Engineering; Operations Management; Production Management; Industrial & Organisational Psychology; Human Resource Management; Work Study.
Duties:

  • Assist in organisational design processes.
  • Support activities to improve organisational structure.
  • Assist in development/review of job profiles, job evaluation processes, business process improvement and change management.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate with interest in organisational development, structure, change management, process improvement, with analytical and HR/engineering orientation.

13. Internship: Employee Health & Wellness Programme (EHWP)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 26 posts across Head Office & provinces.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) / National Diploma (NQF6) in Social Work; Psychology; Occupational Health & Safety.
Duties:

  • Assist with coordination and implementation of employee health & wellness programmes and services in the Department.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate in psychology, social work, occupational health & wellness, with interest in wellbeing programmes, coordination, support services.

14. Internship: Gender, Disability & Youth (GDY)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 26 across Head Office & provinces.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) / National Diploma (NQF6) in Social Work; Psychology; Social Science; Gender Studies; Youth Studies.
Duties:

  • Assist in coordination and implementation of disability mainstreaming.
  • Assist in coordinating various activities, events and programmes focusing on Gender, Disability and Youth.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate in social sciences, gender/youth studies, psychology or social work, with interest in inclusion, youth & disability issues, programme coordination.

15. Internship: Policy, Research & Monitoring (PRM)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month.
Posts: 4 at Head Office, Pretoria.
Requirements: National Diploma (NQF6) / Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Human Resource Management or related field.
Duties:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Employment Equity, HR planning & policies.
  • Assist in HR data analytics and monitoring.
    Ideal Candidate: A graduate with interest in policy, research, data analytics, HR planning, monitoring and evaluation in a public sector labour/employment context.
