Safety Officer Wanted in Durban at Freight Logistics

Candidate to be well versed with developing and maintaining safety policies, procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Risk assessments: Identify potential hazards and risks, and create safety procedures
• Incident investigations: Investigate incidents, debrief driver and close out non-conformances
• Safety training: Provide training to employees / drivers on safety measures. Conduct weekly / monthly toolbox talks. Hold driver / yard staff meetings
• Safety audits: Conduct health and safety audits. Sound knowledge of SQAS and RTMS audits
• Safety inspections: Conduct inspections on site as and when necessary
• Safety policy development: Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and protocols. Ensuring company is aligned and up to date. Compile risk route assessments
• Safety strategy development: Develop strategies to mitigate potential dangers

Qualifications

• A diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health, or a related field
• Background in the Transport and Logistics sector, minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience
