Founders in Tech (FIT) is South Africa’s largest entrepreneurship community, serving over 50,000 entrepreneurs through year-round programmes, events, and leadership development. Our flagship offerings include the Tech in Business Summit (TIBS), one of South Africa’s premier entrepreneurship and technology conferences, the Dealmaker sales automation workshops, and FIT Boardroom Conversations for leadership development. We operate under Akha Venture Partners alongside BidPartner, our tender preparation and compliance division. We are looking to hire an Administration Intern to support operations across our programmes and events.
Job Description
As an Administration Intern, you will be the operational backbone of the FIT team, supporting across programmes, events, and community engagement to ensure nothing falls through the cracks. This is a versatile, hands-on role where no two days look the same. Your responsibilities will include:
Tech in Business Summit & Events
- Researching and identifying potential sponsors, exhibitors, and partners for TIBS’26
- Drafting and sending personalised outreach emails to prospective sponsors
- Scheduling and coordinating meetings with potential sponsors and partners
- Sending marketing emails promoting the summit, programmes, and upcoming events
- Drafting and distributing community newsletters to our ecosystem
BidPartner Support
- Assisting with compiling and formatting bid documents and tender submissions
- Helping source and track tender opportunities from government and private sector portals
- Supporting consultation scheduling and client follow-ups
Marketing & Communications
- Creating, scheduling, and posting content across social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X)
- Writing captions and copy aligned with brand voice across all business units
- Assisting with email campaigns for programmes, events, and community updates
- Monitoring engagement metrics and reporting on performance
General Administration
- Managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating between team members
- Maintaining organised records, trackers, and filing systems
- Handling ad hoc administrative tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly
Requirements
- Currently studying or recently graduated in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- Strong organisational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks across different projects
- Good written communication skills in English
- Comfortable with email marketing tools (Zoho Campaigns, Mailchimp, or similar)
- Proficient in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
- Basic social media management and content creation skills (Canva or similar)
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to take initiative without constant supervision
- Based in South Africa
Nice to Have
- Experience with CRM tools (Zoho CRM preferred)
- Familiarity with the South African tender/procurement landscape
- Prior experience in event coordination or sponsorship outreach
- Understanding of the South African startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem
