Siyavula Foundation is an NPO in the EdTech space based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our mission is to champion a love of maths and science by creating rich, integrated learning experiences for people everywhere through the use of science and technology.

About the product and commercial unit

Siyavula has developed a world-class online Mathematics and Physical Sciences learning tool for high school teachers and students in Africa. It is available at www.siyavula.com to high school students, parents and schools across Africa.

The commercial unit is a business unit within the Siyavula Foundation that focuses on selling Siyavula’s premium subscription software services to schools, universities and tutoring organisations across South Africa.

About the role and what we are looking for

The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of and empathy for South Africa’s rich cultural diversity; being able to communicate with varying groups of people is the cornerstone to our work.

  • love engaging and talking to people in person, via telephone and over video meetings.

The ideal candidate must possess a quantifiable record of success with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets.

Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Become an expert at using Siyavula’s practice service and dashboards.
  • Present, promote and sell Siyavula products to prospective customers;
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships;
  • Reach out to customer leads through cold calling and school visits;
  • Keep record and tracking of the sales pipeline on CRM;
  • Implement the trial process and track trialing users’ engagement, and proactively engage with clients to eliminate those risks;
  • Ensure updates of sales progress are captured correctly in the conversion tracker;
  • Assess conversion trends, and implement sales initiatives to improve conversion rates;
  • Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule;
  • Coordinate sales effort with team members and other departments;
  • Work with the Business Manager to analyze market potential, track sales and submit status reports;
  • Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services;
  • Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends in the education sector;
  • Maintain product knowledge around the Siyavula product, the educational industry, and factors influencing the market environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a National Diploma (three year) or Bachelor’s Degree;
  • 2 – 4 years experience in a sales or business role;
  • Excellent knowledge of Google Suite and a sales tracking software solution (CRM);
  • Ability to build productive business professional relationships;
  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales;
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, presentation and communication skills;
  • Prioritisation, time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs;
  • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback;
  • Valid driver’s license (min 1 year) and vehicle (non-negotiable);
  • Passionate about improving education both locally and globally;
  • Embrace transparency and openness as a general operating procedure.
