Job Overview
At Heath Wentzel Louw, our patient base is growing, and we are looking for a dedicated Receptionist / Optical Assistant to join our established team. We pride ourselves on providing high-end optical care with a personal touch, and this role is the heartbeat of that experience .We are seeking for a friendly, organised, well-presented, and well-spoken Receptionist / Optical Assistant to join their team.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and will receive training to assist the optometrist with basic optical duties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people in a professional retail healthcare environment.
Working Hours
- Monday – Fridays :8:30 am – 5:00pm
- Saturdays: 8:30 am – 1 pm
- Sunday: Closed
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming and assisting patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Managing appointments and patient bookings
- Answering telephone and email enquiries
- Handling payments and basic administrative duties
- Maintaining a neat and organised reception area
- Assisting the optometrist with frame selection and dispensing (training will be provided)
- Supporting daily practice operations and retail activities
- Invoicing and ordering of spectacles and contact lenses
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Well presented with excellent communication skills
- Friendly, professional, and customer-service orientated personality
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Comfortable working retail hours
- Reliable and punctual
- Excel, Word, OneDrive, and Outlook
- Experience with Optimax is ideal and will give you a significant head start.
Advantageous
- Previous receptionist or retail experience
- Experience in a medical practice, optometry, or customer-facing environment
