Work form home jobs at GO2 South Africa
About the Company
Go2 is a fully remote company that was founded in 2016 for the purpose of connecting a global workforce together. They are a remote outsourcing company that introduces employees and employers as the middlemen throughout the process.
The company is very vocal about its start-up mentality and connecting highly skilled individuals with jobs that complement their qualifications and experience, and doing so on a permanent work-from-home basis.
Types of Jobs They Hire
Go2 offers a variety of roles that can help a business function well. These roles include:
- Sales-related roles – appointment setting, lead-gen, upselling, hard selling, combined sales, etc.
- Admin-related roles – executive assistant, back-office and back-end, admin, etc.
- Customer-related roles – consumer product support, e-commerce, social media mgt, receptionist/concierge, etc.
- Technical Support – IT support, tech product support, tech troubleshooting, ISP support, etc.
- Specialized-related roles
- Lead and managerial-related roles
Locations they hire from
While it is not 100% clear, Go2 claims to hire from a majority of countries – there is no list specifying which ones.
However, the company is very clear about where they DO NOT hire from:
- Countries that are on the US terrorist watchlist. It sounds scary, but it’s simply too costly to employ people from these regions as there is a lot of complicated data usage and browser history information that will need to be compiled by Go2, so they avoid it altogether.
- US, Canada and the UK. These countries have high administrative costs that are expensive and too time-consuming for Go2 to maintain.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Go2 states that one year of experience in all the roles is vital. You are required to have a strong foundation in English in order to communicate in writing and verbally. Some roles are more specialised in terms of technology and software, so applicants need to mention having experience in these.
Other than these, I would say that the requirements are quite basic and accommodating to entry-level employees. Be sure to read through the job description in detail to provide requirements that will guarantee you the best chance of employment.
Tools & Materials that are Required
Go2 is very particular about the tools and materials that you absolutely must have before applying for any of the roles. In a Q&A, it was even said that if candidates don’t have the necessary hardware and work-from-home setup, then they will be rejected immediately.
These are your hardware must-haves, taken directly from the Go2 application page:
- CPU: At least i3 or AMD Ryzen 3. For Mac devices, at least a 2012 model or newer.
- Operating System (PC): Windows 10 or newer, (macOS): Catalina (10.15) or newer
- RAM: 8 GB
- Internet: Stable ping 80 ms or less, 10 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds
- Headset with noise-cancelling microphone
- A good quality webcam
Note that Go2 is very specific about these requirements, so your best chance of an interview is to have these in order.
Pros of working for Go2
Let’s dive into a few pros of working for a remote outsourcing company like Go2.
Full-time employment contract:
Go2 does not offer part-time positions. This means that you will be a full-time employee who does not have to worry about job security and will receive a consistent income every month.
100% remote working:
Go2 operates solely from the comfort of your home. All interviews, meetings, and team discussions are held online. Go2 also has a very casual approach to business, so attire during meetings (not including the interview) is done in regular clothes.
International job exposure:
You will get the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life. Go2 is very culturally inclusive, and the team has members from all over the Philippines, Ecuador, El Salvador, India, Kenya, Costa Rica, Morocco and Bolivia.
Payout schedule:
Go2 uses a platform called Deel, which you can link to your PayPal or Payoneer accounts. It is also mentioned that you can get paid in crypto.
Payouts happen every other week. You work for two weeks, and on the third week, usually on Friday, you will receive payment.
Cons of Working for Go2
It was pretty challenging to find any cons on Go2 as there are hardly any company reviews published. But, like with any remote job, there is always something(s) that will not make it perfect.
No career growth:
As your role will be outsourced in an international company, there are very few, if any, prospects for you to grow within the company and climb the ladder. Your role in the company does not offer potential for advancement.
Stringent technical requirements:
Go2 has a detailed list of what technical requirements are needed before you are even employed with them. Unlike other companies that will allow you time to get the requirements once you receive the job, Go2 requires you to have it already. It is expensive if this is your first time delving into the remote working world. Not to mention, this can be a deterrent for many applicants.
Application Process
Go2 outlines the hiring process under the ‘How We Hire’ section on the company website. Here are the stages of the application process:
- Apply to join the Candidate Pool
- The first step is to become an applicant for Go2’s candidate pool.
- If you are accepted, you will be matched to a Partner, and an interview will be set up. Note – getting accepted into the candidate pool does not guarantee a job.
- After the interview, the Partner will decide which candidates are good fits for the company.
- The application and testing process will help assess your viability for the role.
- The Candidate Pool Interview
- Constant interviews will be held in order to assess your skills and expertise and whether or not you will be a good fit for the company.
- If you are accepted, you are added to the pool of candidates and matched to a partner who has available job openings.
- The Partner Interview
- Once matched with a Partner, you will be required to join a candidate selection call along with the other candidates.
- Once the interview has concluded, the Partner will select the best candidate.
- Congratulations!
- Once the Partner has selected you for the job, you become a Go2 teammate.
- You will receive support and necessary training from this point onwards.
Go2 sounds promising. If you are someone who already has the tech and hardware needed, you should consider applying.
