At St Cyprian’s, our Receptionist does far more than answer calls and welcome visitors — they create the experience of being seen, supported and cared for. They are often the first smile of the day, the calm in the middle of busy moments and the steady hand that helps everything flow.
We are seeking an exceptional Preparatory School Receptionist to join our team from January 2027.
This is a role for someone who thrives in a dynamic school environment and who understands that administration, hospitality and human connection can exist beautifully together.
You will be the face and voice of our Prep School — creating a welcoming, efficient and professional experience for students, parents, staff, visitors and prospective families.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome and support visitors, parents, students and guests with warmth and professionalism
- Manage the day-to-day functioning and presentation of the reception environment
- Handle enquiries confidently across in-person, telephone and email channels
- Coordinate incoming calls and ensure effective communication flow
- Support student administration including attendance processes, late arrivals and early departures
- Assist students who arrive at reception requiring guidance, support or practical assistance
- Coordinate room bookings and monitor calendar activity
- Support the organisation of outings, camps and transport logistics
- Manage office supply ordering and general administrative coordination
- Contribute to creating an environment that is calm, organised and deeply caring
Minimum Requirements
- Communicate with professionalism, warmth and confidence
- Naturally put people at ease while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Remain calm and solutions-focused in busy or emotionally charged moments
- Enjoy structure, organisation and creating order from moving parts
- Have excellent administrative capability and strong attention to detail
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion
- Are dependable, punctual and quietly proactive
- Can work independently while being an engaged member of a team
- Bring positive energy and adaptability to changing priorities
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant administrative or receptionist experience
- Previous experience in a school or educational environment will be advantageous
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer literacy including Microsoft Office
- Experience with iSAMS or another School Management System is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- First Aid training will be advantageous
