Business HR Assistant Job Vacancy in Johannesburg at Marist Brothers
(6 – 12 months fixed-term contract)
Applications are invited for the above permanent position commencing in May 2026.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should:
- a diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology or any related discipline;
- knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EE Act);
- knowledge of basic HR principles, practices and record keeping; and
- experience with records management or document digitisation will be an advantage.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Suitable candidates should:
- have strong administrative and organisational skills;
- have close attention to detail and accuracy;
- have the ability to manage confidential information responsibly;
- have good document management and filing skills;
- have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
- have a basic understanding of digital-filing systems and scanning processes;
- have the ability to prioritise tasks and manage large volumes of documents;
- be a team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently;
- be committed, motivated and able to achieve tasks in the required time frame;
- have strong interpersonal skills; and
- have good report-writing and minute-taking skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be required to:
- assist with the recruitment process, including drafting job advertisements, posting vacancies and coordinating interviews;
- organise and maintain both physical and electronic employee files;
- ensure all documentation is filed accurately and in accordance with HR record-keeping standards;
- file all school policies according to version control, update dates and review schedules;
- provide secretariat support in employee relations matters, including disciplinary processes, grievances and investigations;
- assist with the administration and tracking of employee leave, particularly for support staff; and
- assist with the preparation of Employment Equity reports and related documentation.
