Work From Home People Operations Specialist Job Opportunity at Bald Agency
- Reports to: Director of People & Culture
- Location: South Africa (Remote)
- Employment Type: Full-time
At Bald, we believe the way people experience work matters.
Not just the big moments, but the small ones too.
The contract that arrives when it’s promised. The onboarding that makes someone feel welcome. The manager who has exactly what they need to support their team. The process that’s easy to follow. The answer that comes quickly when someone needs help.
That’s the role we’re hiring for.
As our People Operations Specialist, you’ll own the operational side of the employee journey, helping ensure every stage of working at Bald feels organised, thoughtful and well supported. You’ll partner closely with managers, support employees throughout their time with us and continually look for ways to make the way we work simpler, clearer and more human.
We’re not interested in adding process for the sake of it. We care about building ways of working that genuinely help our people and our managers do their best work. If you see a better approach, we’ll expect you to bring it forward.
What you’ll do

- Prepare employment contracts, contract amendments and employee documentation with care and accuracy.
- Coordinate promotions, salary changes and other employee lifecycle updates.
- Maintain accurate employee records throughout each employee’s time at Bald.

- Help ensure our people practices remain consistent, compliant and easy to navigate across our global team.
Performance & Development
- Coordinate the operational side of our performance review cycles.
- Support promotion, development and feedback processes.
- Prepare documentation and communications that keep key People initiatives running smoothly.
- Help managers and employees navigate People processes with confidence.
Building Better Ways of Working
- Continually look for opportunities to make the way we work simpler, clearer and more effective.
- Challenge processes that no longer make sense and help us build better ways of working.
- Build systems that make life easier for employees, managers and the People team.
- Create practical documentation, templates and guides that bring consistency without adding bureaucracy.
- Use feedback, data and day-to-day observations to identify opportunities to improve the employee experience.
- Take ownership of improving the processes you work with, leaving them better than you found them.
What we’re looking for
Core capabilities
We’re looking for someone who demonstrates:
- Care. You know the details matter because they’re rarely just administrative. A contract, an onboarding plan or a leave request is often part of a much bigger moment in someone’s life, and you treat it that way.
- Empathy. You balance operational excellence with compassion and professionalism.
- Ownership. You take responsibility for outcomes, follow through on commitments and proactively solve problems.
- Continuous Improvement. You’re naturally curious about why things work the way they do. You question assumptions, look for practical improvements and enjoy making good systems even better.
- Systems Thinking. You enjoy creating processes that are simple, practical and genuinely useful.
- Operational Excellence. You create clarity, consistency and structure without creating unnecessary process.
- Judgement. You know when consistency matters and when flexibility is the better response.
- Communication. You communicate clearly, thoughtfully and with warmth, particularly when handling sensitive situations.
Experience
- Approximately 2–4 years’ experience in People Operations, HR or a similar role.
- Experience supporting the employee lifecycle from onboarding through to offboarding.
- Experience preparing employment documentation and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Experience working with HR systems or employee databases.
- Experience improving, documenting or implementing operational processes.
- Experience supporting managers and employees through day-to-day people matters.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting globally distributed or remote teams.
- Experience within a creative, digital, marketing or agency environment.
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms and workflow tools.
- Experience coordinating performance review or employee development processes.
- Experience supporting payroll administration.
- Experience using people data or insights to improve the way teams work.
- Experience creating internal documentation, playbooks or knowledge resources.
Qualifications
We care far more about your judgement, curiosity and approach than the letters after your name. A qualification in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, Operations or a related field is advantageous, but not essential.
You’ll thrive here if…
- You enjoy helping people and making their lives a little easier.
- You take pride in getting the details right because you know they matter.
- You care more about what works than how it’s always been done.
- You naturally notice opportunities to improve the way things work and enjoy turning good ideas into practical solutions.
- You’re someone people trust to handle sensitive information with care and discretion.
- You enjoy creating systems that support people without creating unnecessary complexity.
- You like building things that last and leaving them better than you found them.
Success in this role looks like…
- New team members feel welcomed, supported and ready to contribute from day one.
- Managers trust the way we work because it’s clear, practical and easy to navigate.
- Employees know where to go, what to expect and feel supported throughout their time at Bald.
- The operational foundations of our People team are reliable, scalable and continually improving.
- The way we work gets better over time because you’re always looking for thoughtful, practical improvements that make a meaningful difference.
Why Bald?
- Fully remote.
- Unlimited paid time off.
- Happy Pot monthly wellbeing stipend.
- Annual international retreat.
- A high-trust environment where you’ll have genuine ownership from day one.
- A supportive team that’s ambitious, curious and committed to helping each other do exceptional work.
