About this role
Location: Prieska
This role involves assisting with a variety of manual labour tasks to support the installation, maintenance, and operation of solar energy systems. The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to renewable energy projects.
Duties and responsibilities
- Vegetation Control by means of hand tools, lawnmowers, brush cutters etc.
- Site Preparation & Setup: Assist in clearing and preparing land for solar installations, including grading, trenching, and setting up foundations.
- Material Handling: Unload, transport, and stage materials and equipment at the job site.
- Panel Installation Support: Aid in the assembly and installation of solar panel racking systems and modules using hand and power tools.
- Maintenance Assistance: Support routine inspections and maintenance tasks, such as cleaning panels and checking system components.
- Site Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work environment by collecting and disposing of debris and excess materials.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following site-specific safety guidelines.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with team members, following instructions from supervisors and contributing to a positive work environment.
- Occasional standby duties over weekends and public holidays as required by site operations.
Required skills and education background
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in construction or solar installations is advantageous but not required.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, stand, kneel, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Safety certifications are a plus.
- Good communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
