Elemental, a web and software development company based in Sandown, Cape Town, is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team full-time. In this role, you will manage various bookkeeping and accounting functions essential to the company’s financial operations, as outlined below. Location
This is a remote role. However, the candidate must reside in Cape Town or surrounding areas, as occasional in-person meetings are required at our Sandown office (near Sunningdale).
Job specification
- Invoicing: Ad hoc and recurring invoicing
- Processing debit orders
- Quoting
- Payroll (including PAYE preparation and submission)
- Supplier payments
- VAT calculations and submission
- Reconciliation of bank accounts and credit cards
- Credit card reconciliation
- Debtors: Follow up and issue statements
- Prepare management and financial reports
- Maintain accurate filing systems for financial records, receipts, and invoices
- Perform other administrative duties as needed
Requirements
- A diploma in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or a related field is highly advantageous.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in bookkeeping is required.
- At least two years of experience working with Xero is essential.
Skills
- Understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc)
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Highly trustworthy and honest
