Following the successful securing of new funding and the establishment of our new home at the Nyoni Education Hub, CMDA is entering an exciting phase of rebuilding and growth. We are now seeking a passionate and driven Fundraising & Sponsorship Officer to help us secure the partnerships and resources needed to expand our impact.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships and believes in the power of community. As our Fundraising & Sponsorship Officer, you’ll play a vital role in sustaining and growing CMDA’s work. You’ll be responsible for cultivating donor relationships, securing corporate sponsorships and CSI partnerships, identifying grant opportunities, and bringing fundraising campaigns to life. This position offers a flexible working arrangement and combines a monthly retainer with performance-based commission on funding secured.What You’ll Be DoingDonor Relations & Fundraising
ou’ll develop and implement fundraising campaigns while building meaningful relationships with individual donors, foundations, community supporters and corporate partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Cultivating and maintaining donor relationships
- Growing individual giving programmes
- Developing donor stewardship and engagement initiatives
- Managing donor communications, acknowledgements and impact reporting
- Supporting donor retention and long-term supporter growth
Sponsorship & Corporate Partnerships
You’ll identify and secure sponsorship opportunities and CSI partnerships that align with CMDA’s mission and programmes. Responsibilities include:
- Researching and approaching prospective sponsors
- Developing sponsorship proposals and partnership packages
- Building relationships with corporate decision-makers
- Managing sponsor benefits and reporting requirements
- Identifying opportunities for long-term strategic partnerships
Proposal & Grant Writing
You’ll research funding opportunities and prepare compelling applications that communicate CMDA’s impact and vision. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying grant and funding opportunities
- Writing and submitting funding proposals
- Tracking submission deadlines and reporting requirements
- Managing grant compliance and reporting
- Maintaining a pipeline of prospective funding opportunities
Events & Campaigns
From fundraising events to online giving campaigns, you’ll help coordinate activities that engage supporters and generate revenue. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with fundraising events and campaigns
- Coordinating campaign communications
- Working alongside volunteers, board members and staff
- Supporting social media and digital fundraising initiatives
- Promoting fundraising activities across relevant channels
Administration & Reporting
You’ll ensure accurate record-keeping and provide regular reporting on fundraising performance.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining donor and sponsor databases
- Tracking fundraising targets and outcomes
- Monitoring funding pipelines and opportunities
- Preparing reports for management and the Board
- Assisting with fundraising budgets and financial tracking
What We’re Looking For
A diploma, degree or relevant experience in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Development, Fundraising or a related field would be advantageous.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who can build trust, create relationships and confidently ask for support.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum two years’ experience in fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, sales, business development or donor relations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong proposal and report writing ability
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Advantageous
- Experience in the non-profit sector
- Understanding of CSI and corporate sponsorship environments
- Experience with grant writing and reporting
- Knowledge of donor management or CRM systems
- Experience with digital fundraising and social media campaigns
