Communications Intern for M2M | Onsite CT
Job Description
m2m is looking for an inspired, passionate, hardworking, and ambitious Communications Intern. The purpose of the role is to support the Communications team in achieving its strategic goals for 2025. This internship offers an exciting, in-depth immersion in a range of communications activities.
Key Performance Areas:
General Communications Support
- Digital content: assist with collecting, editing, and preparing content for social media, website, email newsletters and other digital channels.
- Digital analytics: researching and preparing reports on performance of digital channels, making suggestions for improvements.
- Knowledge management: assist with keeping m2m’s communications sharepoint up to date and well organised.
- Event support: assist with planning and executing physical and virtual events, working on items such as invitations, presentations, guest list research and management.
- Media relations: opportunity research and support for interview preparation.
- Research: Assist with researching and summarising key trends in areas including communications and public health, and make recommendations on including the findings into the work of the department.
- Administrative support: Partner with Communications Assistant to provide ongoing administrative duties to the South Africa communications team (Invoice payment/travel requests etc);
Country Communications Support
- Working closely with the Regional Communications Manager, support m2m’s country communications initiatives. This will include:
- Liaising with colleagues based in m2m operating countries to understand their communications needs, and working with other members of the team to plan and meet them
- Collecting and editing case studies from our frontline team and clients for internal and external use.
- Researching and preparing communications materials such as fact sheets, talking points, and presentations for colleagues
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Grade 12/equivalent school leaving certificate
- A diploma or degree in marketing, journalism, communications or similar field is strongly preferred. We will consider applications from those without tertiary qualifications if they have exceptional and relevant experience.
Competencies Required:
- Excellent computer skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (especially PPT and Word).
- Committed team player with ability to foster strong working relations in a multi-cultural environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to liaise on all levels
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work to tight deadlines within a pressurised environment
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Understanding and patience when working closely with colleagues from other cultures with various languages.
- Compassion, respect, and understanding of the work that m2m does.
- A team player who is highly adaptive, works well under time pressure, and has a sense of humour.
Preferred Skills/Competencies
- Skills or experience in digital marketing and content management, using tools such as WordPress, Canva, Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Social Media Channels.
- Skills or experiences in employee engagement and internal communications.
- Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates and people living with HIV.
