Requirements
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate);
- At least one-year’s relevant experience at a Nature Reserve or
similar environment. A second year would be advantageous;
- Basic arithmetic ability is essential;
- Experience in Point of Sale and/or till operation and cash
management, stock control would be highly
advantageous;
- Experience in dealing with the public would be advantageous;
- Basic proficiency in MS word and Excel;
- Ability to speak at least two official languages;
- Prepared to work weekends and public holidays;
- Additional courses such as First Aid certificate
would be advantageous;
- A valid code EB drivers’ license would be advantageous;
- Must be physically fit
Key Performance Areas
- Access Control and Visitor Management;
- Operating a Point of Sale and/ Till and receiving activity fees
and reconciling cash according to the tariff structure and
procedures;
- Issue entrance permits and provide general visitor information
and answer basic queries about the reserve;
- Provide visitor and financial statistics when required for reporting;
- Providing visitors with information about the reserve and
answering queries;
- Rendering first aid and reporting environmental or security
emergencies to the relevant agencies;
- Booking, opening and closing of reserve visitor facilities;
- Assisting with general duties such as field work, firefighting
and transportation of goods and staff;
- Working over weekends and Public Holidays according to a roster.
