Our Students

Our Levels
- We offer five levels: Starter, Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate
- Each level is 16 weeks long.
- You have to provide your own materials to achieve the lesson objectives. See the curriculum outline here.
- 75% of our groups are Starter and Beginner levels.
Our Classes (Groups)
- We run group English classes.
- Each group is taught by one teacher and has up to 6-8 students.
- We have five levels of English and offer several times of the day for each level. Each group has a time and a level associated with it.
- For example, we have a 6pm Starter.
- Most of our classes run at night in the Eastern (New York) time zone which means that if you are applying from Europe or Africa, you would be teaching late into the night.
- These classes run from 5pm to 10pm Eastern which would be around 10pm to 4am in Europe and African timezones.
- A group meets every day from Monday to Friday at the same time.
- That’s 5 hours of learning each week.

How we pay
- We pride ourselves in being an affordable learning option for students, so students pay $3, $4 and $5/hour for classes. Teachers are paid $5-7/hour for classes.
- Teachers are paid monthly and at the end of every month.
- You can take on as many groups as you wish. We have an internal board where we post available groups.
- Check out our Teacher Compensation article to get an idea of what you could make each month with us.
- We offer direct deposit! We use a service called Wise for transfers.
Minimum commitment to teach
- The minimum commitment to teach with us is 4 months.
- This means that if you assign yourself to a group, you have to stay with them for 4 months. If you leave before the 4 months are over, there will be a deduction of pay. This is to deter teachers from selecting groups that they are not ready to teach.
- Abandoning a group within the 1st week will result in the forfeiture of payment for that group.
- Please note that we have a very strict absence policy and teachers are held to a code of conduct. Only 1 absence per calendar month is permitted.
How to select your classes
- We have a team of student recruiters that signs up students.
- Based on the student’s requested level and time, we create groups and post them on an internal job board.
- You will be able to assign yourself to the groups that you want.
- See the most popular times and levels here.
