About Production Learnership Experience

This is where candidates are taught both theory and on the job training in order to equip them skills and knowledge needed in the manufacturing sector. The candidates are taught about manufacturing procedures, precautions and quality production. 

What are the eligibility requirements for applying?

To be eligible for the ArcelorMittal South Africa Production Learnership, applicants must:

1. Be either a South African citizen or a permanent resident.
2. Have finished Grade 12/Matric in Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy).
3. Physical science.
4. Age range: 18 to 35 years.
5. have a keen interest in steel production and manufacturing.
6. Be willing to work shifts and in demanding industrial situations.

How long does the learnership program last?

The ArcelorMittal Production Learnership lasts approximately 12 months. During this phase, students switch between theoretical study at approved universities and practical training at ArcelorMittal sites.

How Much Are Apprentices Paid by ArcelorMittal?

A monthly stipend is given to learners to help with essential costs. The majority of stipends for comparable programs fall between R5,000 and R7,000 per month, though the precise amount may differ.
