A position for a Logistics Administrative Assistant has become available at a Wholesaler, based in Johannesburg, on the East Rand.

  • The company is looking to fill this vacancy with a South African female, aged between 35 and 45.
  • The position is based in Germiston. 
  • The person must have her own transport.
  • Work hours are from 08h00-17h00, Monday to Friday.

Duties

  • Daily capturing and monitoring of fuel usage and fuel levels.
  • Analyzing captured fuel data and completing all the various fuel reports
  • Managing border permits and harbor permits.
  • Trace and track vehicles.   
  • Monitoring driver whereabouts.
  • Updating drivers on collections and deliveries.
  • Ensuring clients and drivers stay updated during the day.
  • Log all vehicle breakdowns – Trucks, trailers and tyres.
  • Services bookings on all trucks and pool cars.
  • Monitoring licenses and logbooks.
  • Processing of all quotes received and getting approval.
  • Assist the branches with their vehicle issues and concerns. 
  • Updating the fleet list and handling all related tasks when vehicles change internal ownership.
  • Invoicing all 3rd party loads and following up on payments from 3rd party clients.
  • Log insurance claims – new claims and following up on existing claims.
  • Issuing stationery and groceries for all departments and branches, including the ordering of invoice paper, delivery notebooks, credit notebooks etc.
  • Issuing and control of PPE to all the departments and the branches.
  • Monthly capturing of the department’s credit card statements.
  • Manage printers for all branches.

Skills and qualifications

  •  Grade 12 is mandatory.
  •  A tertiary qualification in supply chain management or logistics is advantageous.
  •  Computer literate on MS Office – Advanced Excel is non-negotiable.
  •  Experience in the same or similar role is essential – it is a fast-paced environment.
  •  Fluent in both English and Afrikaans. Proficiency in South African Vernacular is advantageous.
  •  Numeric competency is essential and a working knowledge of basic accounting.

  •  The ability to prioritise tasks is important.
  •  Ability to work well within a team and communicate efficiently.
  •  Very well organised and energetic.
  •  Pays attention to detail.
