Purpose of the Role
To provide front-line client service support for UIF beneficiaries. The role will involve screening applications, capturing benefit claims, registering continuation/payment forms, and performing related administrative and customer-service functions to ensure prompt, accurate delivery of UIF services.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist UIF clients, conduct screening of claims and documentation.
- Process applications for UIF benefits: capture details, verify eligibility, follow departmental procedures.
- Register payment continuation forms and ensure timely benefit payments.
- Provide general administrative support including maintaining records, filing, managing correspondence and data.
- Handle client enquiries and complaints in a professional manner, ensuring compliance with customer‐service standards (Batho Pele Principles).
- Apply and comply with relevant legislation and departmental policies: Unemployment Insurance Act & Regulations, Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Treasury Regulations, UIF and Department policies and procedures.
- Use computer systems (operational systems) for capturing and processing claims, follow on‐the‐job training as required.
- Uphold confidentiality, integrity and service delivery standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / Matriculation.
- 0 to 6 months relevant experience (entry level).
Knowledge
- Understanding of the Unemployment Insurance Act & Regulations, Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act.
- Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, POPIA, UIF and Department of Employment & Labour policies & procedures.
- Familiarity with the Batho Pele Principles, customer-service and public service delivery frameworks.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office, data capture).
- Analytical thinking, ability to interpret relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Good listening skills, time management, conflict management and customer relations.
Location & Number of Posts
A total of 454 posts available across multiple Labour Centres and Satellite Offices in Mpumalanga Province (e.g., Barberton, Bethal, Morgenzon, Carolina, Malelane, Mashishing, Secunda, Standerton, Volksrust etc) with specific reference numbers per centre.
