The University of South Africa (UNISA) has officially opened its 2026 Internship Programme, offering over 150 paid internship positions nationwide! This is a fantastic opportunity for unemployed South African graduates to gain valuable workplace experience, build professional skills and kick-start your career.

The programme runs for 12 months and is designed to provide structured on-the-job training across a variety of departments and functions within the university.

🧑‍🎓 Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following:
✔ Be a South African citizen
✔ Be unemployed at the time of application
✔ Have completed a UNISA qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher (degree/diploma)
✔ Be 35 years old or younger
✔ Have no prior formal work experience in the field applied for
✔ Not previously been appointed in a similar internship programme at UNISA or another organisation
✔ Provide certified documents (ID, matric, academic record, completed qualification) – no older than 6 months

Tip: Preference is given to persons living with disabilities in line with UNISA’s Employment Equity Plan.

📍 Internship Details

  • 📅 Duration: 12 months (fixed-term internship agreement)
  • 📍 Start Date: 1 March 2026 (assumption of duty)
  • 💰 Stipend: R127 576 per annum
  • 📍 Locations: Positions available in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Northern regions and more, across multiple campuses.
