Student Part Time Job Available in Stellenbosch as a Book Pickup Assistant at The Story Station
We’re a growing online secondhand bookshop, and we’re looking to get local collections off the ground in Stellenbosch. This role is ideal for a post-grad student who currently spends a lot of time at home, and is friendly, and reliable and someone who’d love to be part of a small business that’s built on a love of literature.
There’s plenty of opportunity for future growth and responsibility too — from logistics and marketing to product management and managing customer relationships and communication. We’re excited to share this journey with someone who loves books just as much as we do.
You’re a great fit if…
- You’re home during the day most weekdays
- You live in a safe neighbourhood with easy access to parking, ideally near Dorp Street, Andringa Street, Die Boord, Stellenbosch Central (This is to make collaboration with the owner for deliveries as easy as possible).
- You’re friendly, reliable, and organised
- You love books – (bonus if you are studying literature or languages!)
- You can start immediately
Your responsibilities
- Receive and store packages safely until collected
- Send a WhatsApp message to the customer when a package is ready
- Arrange a pickup time based on your availability
- Hand the parcel over when the customer arrives, and confirm their name
- Keep track of collections using a simple checklist or spreadsheet
Availability
- You can choose your pickup windows are for each day
- If you’re not available one day, just let me know
Pay
- R20 per completed pickup. Paid weekly.
