Remote Socials Assistant Coordinator Job Vacancy at What’s on in Cape Town
What’s on in Cape Town needs a person to assist in co-ordination of our social media strategy.
Please note this is NOT a content creator position.
What’s on in Cape Town promotes thousands of activities and events both to local readers and to tourists. We have a following of over 110k on Instagram and over 80k on Facebook.
The role will be one that suits someone who has excellent organisational and communication skills and who finds joy in a well-planned spreadsheet.
All training will be given, but applicants must have a natural aptitude for the role and an organised mind.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Regular check-ins with the editorial and sales teams
- Executing the content plan (selecting visuals and writing captions)
- Daily postings (3 to 4 times per day) on Instagram and FB PLUS 6 – 8 stories per day
- Managing client assets (copy, videos, images etc)
- Spotting trends and suggesting ideas around them
- Keep an eye on our mentions and comments
We are a small, friendly team all working from home but with regular online check-ins. The successful applicant will
- Be a hard worker with precise attention to detail
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a positive can-do attitude
- Be computer literate with good typing skills and EXCELLENT English
- Be dynamic and driven and full of initiative
- Be eager to learn
- Be a team player and excellent communicator
- Be able to attend regular online meetings
- Have a thorough understanding of social media
- Be knowledgeable about Cape Town
Hours are flexible. Remuneration to start is R7000pm, depending on experience.
Start date: mid January 2026 (or possibly earlier if availability allows)
