Purpose of the role: To manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, prepare management reports, and supervise junior finance staff to achieve organisational financial objectives.

Reports to: Business Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger, process creditors & debtors, perform bank reconciliations, manage cashbook, maintain asset register & depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis,assist with budgets & forecasts, and generate ad hoc reports.
  • Prepare & submit VAT, PAYE, UIF, and SDL returns, ensure compliance with accounting standards and legislation.
  • Prepare audit schedules, liaise with auditors, and assist with yearend close.
  • Oversee junior finance staff, review work, provide training & mentorship.
  • Maintain and improve financial control systems, ensure proper documentation and secure record filing.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced bookkeeping knowledge to balance sheet.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel, Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks).
  • Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, lookups).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Matric with Accounting & Mathematics.
  • Diploma or higher qualification in Accounting/Finance.
  • Minimum 5 years’ bookkeeping experience, at least 3 years in a senior role.
  • A willingness to work within the framework and expectations set by the PEPPS Trust.
  • All shortlisted candidates will be screened against the SexualOffenders Register (Form 29/30).
