Get paid for your eggs in South Africa?

Spread the love

So, you are thinking of selling your eggs, just know that, you are not “selling” your eggs; rather, you are giving them as a gift to someone else. The donor fee that is paid is not intended to cover the cost of the given eggs. You will be compensated for your time and work in the donation procedure when you donate your eggs.

How much can you get paid for your eggs in South Africa

In South Africa, the reputable egg donor agencies all offer the same compensation, so there is no need to search for the highest paying one. This is due to the fact that the maximum compensation for egg donors is regulated by law and that the payment is given by the appropriate fertility clinic, not the egg donor agency.

It has to be noted that noted the amount of eggs you donate per cycle does not matter, everyone gets paid the same. By law, women who give some of their eggs to another woman so she can experience the joy of delivering and giving birth to a child can be paid for the time, effort, and expenditures associated with this altruistic gesture.

According to the National Guidelines from the South African Society for Reproductive Medicine (SASREG), the maximum compensation currently permitted in South Africa is R8000 per donation cycle.

Here is a list of South African regional egg banks.

  1. The Cape Town-based Aevitas Egg Bank seeks donors who are between the ages of 20 and 32.
  2. The Vitalab Egg Bank in Morningside, Sandton, is accepting applications from women between the ages of 21 and 32.
  3. The Cape Town-based Cape Fertility asks women between the ages of 18 and 31 to apply.
  4. The Nurture Donor Agency is looking for female applicants between the ages of 19 and 33.
  5. The Johannesburg-based Baby 2 Mom Donation Agency is seeking female donors between the ages of 18 and 34.

The process of donating eggs

Potential donors must first go through a screening process that involves, at the very least, tests for infectious diseases, doctor consultations, fertility tests, and psychological screening. Additionally, screening may involve genetic testing, psychometric testing, and criminal background checks.

Along with a vaginal ultrasound, blood testing for hormones, and a clinical assessment of their reproductive system, donors may also go through.
