CapeTown Writer Job Position as Features Writer Intern (Food & Home) for Highbury Media

Highbury Media (Pty) Ltd T/A Habari Media is a media powerhouse whose world-class titles connect brands to targeted audiences.

We are seeking a Features Writer Intern (preferably based in Cape Town) currently unemployed and looking to gain workplace experience to join our dynamic editorial team for Food&Home Magazine.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Write engaging and well-researched features for the quarterly print magazine and regular articles for the website.
• Stay up to date with trends and news in the food industry, including restaurants, chefs, food influencers and content creators.
• Brainstorm and contribute ideas for content across print and digital platforms.
• Assist with social media content when needed.
• SEO-optimise own web articles to improve online visibility.
• Attend food-related events on occasion.
• Support the team with administrative tasks where relevant.

Requirements:

• A relevant degree and/or experience in writing (journalism, media, communications or similar).
• Strong knowledge of SEO practices and digital content strategies.
• A keen interest in food, restaurants, chefs and the evolving food content landscape.
• Comfortable working remotely while collaborating with the team.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in major social media platforms.
• Experience with WordPress CMS and Mac is a plus.
• Excellent writing, copy editing and organisational skills
